Job Purpose:
To plan, organize, lead, control and oversee the overall support services, policy implementation and special projects in the department, putting into action the plans and policies of senior management, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BCom / BPublic Admin or relevant equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
  • NQF Level 5 Finance Management Qualification in terms of the National Treasury requirement will serve as an advantage
  • 8 years’ relevant management experience, of which at least 3 years must have been at Middle Management Level

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coordinate, develop, plan, and drive an overall support services strategy of the Department, incorporating overall administrative and financial practices, thereby ensuring compliance with organisational administration, the Supply Chain Management policy, accounting practices, and Local Government Acts, Governance as well as HR related issues
  • Provide strategic capability and leadership to give direction to team in realising the organisation’s strategic objectives
  • Ensure operational process to implement good governance, and apply risk knowledge and skills within the parameters of prescribed regulatory and best practice framework for good corporate governance
  • Ensure governance and risk management to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, processes and resolutions and minimize risk
  • Oversee financial processes to ensure compliance with financial controls as contemplated in the MFMA
  • Ensure customer service orientation to ensure sound relations with the customer in relation to governance and compliance activities

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
